I have always had the desire to own horses from my younger days. The beauty and elegance of this animal has always fascinated me. My background and profession was alien to any kind of interaction with the animal, but the dream to own it always haunted me. I do recollect a memory when a close friend of mine once asked me if he ever had to visit my home in Goa how would he know where to go. (Goa, lies on the west sea coast of India, sharing a border with Bombay and is a place where horses are rare). To that I replied, that if you pass by a house in Goa with a Horse in its lawn, that would be my house.
In the summer of 2009, I took it upon myself to make this dream come true and began my search to find me a horse. I decided to educate myself and got in touch with Mr.Siddharth Singh an international senior coach and horse breeder. He owns a stud farm called Korta Stud, located in the north west of Rajasthan in India and well known for Breeding ‘Pure Breed Marwari Horses’ from past many generations. (The Marwari is a indigenous breed of horse from the Marwar region of India. It is known for its inward-turning ear tips and comes in all equine colors).
Through constant communication Mr. Singh and I became very good friends. He helped me choose my first horse Raj, which was perfect for a first time owner. Raj a 5yr old Bay stands at 15.2HH with a dark majestic appearance. My next prized possession from the Korta Stud farm was Chetak,a handsome and powerful Stallion. It didn’t stop there, then came a brood mare called Tajun and a colt, Allam (The Notorious).Tajun gave me my first very own beautiful filly called Talita. Now all the horses are at my own stud farm called D.S Stud in south west of Goa. At D.S Stud we plan to maintain the highest quality of care for our horses and further the beauty of Pure Marwari Horses.
